Geothermal Energy Sources and micro CHP boilers – heating your home with less gas or oil
May 31st, 2010 Posted 7:58 am
There are three exciting new technologies that can help heat your home this winter with less or no oil or gas. Each of these systems will pay for itself in a short period, and then keep all the savings collects in low stocks of oil and gas. Each of the three products, condensing boilers, micro-cogeneration systems and heat pumps are already widespread in the world, ready to explode in the U.S. market.
MicroCombined Heat & Power (CHP) is the key technology in the so-called "cogeneration". Cogeneration is the process by which electricity and heat simultaneously, and micro-cogeneration is in a way that optimum performance in both processes. This, in turn, can lower gas or oil. For example, a system of micro-CHP in an efficient converting 70-80% of energy from gas or oil heat, and 15-25% of electricity. This allowsenergy very little to lose 50-20% in most cases. Conventional systems, on the other hand, may also be able to reach 80% of the energy is converted into heat but electricity generation is a totally different system. Thus, micro-cogeneration, electricity in the house is actually free! The savings on electricity accounts for the initial investment for installation of a micro-CHP units for some years.
A condensing boiler captures energy normally discharged and lost because ofexhaust chimney during the process in which water is heated. In short, the steam trapped in hot water to go through a "heat exchanger" that cools the steam back into liquid. During this process. Energy production and use of this energy, which in turn are useful for fuel, condensing boiler, so less gas or oil to be burned together. Moreover, the history of water is already heated, can be used again reused in the boiler to go. Condensing boilersusually pays for itself within 2-3 years.
geothermal heat pumps (often called heat pumps) can both heat and cool your home, and the things that sets these systems apart from the two previous ones is that they use zero gas or oil. In fact, heat and cold generated by something that you should pay and go anywhere – the earth itself. Just below the soil surface temperature is stable and warm. A source of geothermal heat pump drawsEarth's heat in the house during the winter and in summer the system itself and the statements turn heat the house in the foreground. While heat pumps are more expensive than the normal installation Colling and heaters, are often guaranteed for 40-50 years, and pays a small fraction of it.
Condensing boilers, micro CHP and heat pumps are technologies that is already perfect and the consumer market. ThenPrices are reasonable and all the technology that is trustworthy. Is not new "green" technology – just a relatively (and surprisingly) unknown products. Today you are in one of three products to reduce heating costs, reduce carbon footprint and increase the resale value and desirability of your home.

What are the advantages of geothermal systems?
May 30th, 2010 Posted 7:49 am
and the next technology recently in heating and cooling is the geothermal unit. like heat pumps, geothermal systems are used to cool and heat homes, businesses and other internal systems. Geothermal energy for solar energy stored beneath our feet to provide heat, air conditioning and hot water.
Every day the world is busy absorbing the warmth of the sun hitting the surface. This stored energy as heatgrounds that the geothermal units use for their work. If it is cold in winter, heat from the earth passed through a cycle concentrated, and then delivered throughout the home. In summer, the geothermal air conditioning works by removing excess heat from the house and return to earth in order to complete the cycle.
Many of us are surprised that we have not heard of this earth-friendly method of heating and cooling our homesuntil now. The reason is that many companies, this system only in developing, testing, deployment and improvement of existing technologies for the last two years to bring the product to market. These products are now available for public use, is a good time to invest in a new system. There's a lot of rebates and tax incentives to install systems.
Another great use of the geothermal system with a swimming pool. These systems will also perform well if properly designed for the climate. People who live in an area like Arizona, which has a very hot summers, will be able to enjoy their pool for a longer period. This means that the cooling and heating of the soil will work to treat your pool at the right temperature for the time outside. If you're in a warm period in summer, the heat exchange system and easilyYou will be able to dive to get in your pool and cool off. Similarly, when the weather started a little cool, begin to heat your pool.
The best thing for geothermal heating and cooling is that it is one of the most effective and affordable technologies available. These units use the natural heat of the earth simply can not get earth-friendly than that. It may feel good to install your new geothermalsystem and know that you are doing your part to help this earth to stay healthy.

Bixby Corn Stove: Luxury Alternative Heating
May 29th, 2010 Posted 7:35 am
The Bixby corn stove on the market in 2002 by Bob Walker. His name may not ring a bell, but the sleep number bed, who also invented, surely.
Walker vision of 21st-century warming is also a bio mass pellet that can be produced locally, regardless of resources available, such as plants or animal waste. The grains will be distributed the same way heating oil is delivered.
Although Mr. Walker's vision maytomorrow's reality today Bixby corn stove is already the third generation.
As the title of this section, these stoves are not cheap. Bixby recently, Model 115, with prices of about $ 3,995 more expensive, with the added luxury trim options.
With this stove really an exception to competition for ease of use and exceptional 97% fuel. 97%, the Bixby 12-17% more efficient than any other pellet stovemarket.
In another way, the Bixby stove 12-17% less fuel consumed the same amount of heat generated from an oven to generate similar size.
Another advantage of almost 100% efficiency is lower. In fact, there are no fly ash. No, pynboom a cake about 3 inches round is automatically expelled from the pool fire in the ash drawer twice a day. With little waste to remove the ash tray must be emptied once a week.
Other disadvantages associated with the possession of aThought fuel pellet stove is eliminated.
Instead of using fire to start, Bixby uses a flame, hot air vortex system. Press the ON button and the stove automatically dispenses the necessary amount of corn in a few minutes the fire pot on the fire.
Although the traditional use of a fuel to power auger pelletkachels brazier, the usefulness of Bixby Ferris Wheel design reject foreign materials that cause interference.
Hopper to Bixbycorn stove, take 106 pounds of dry shelled grain, wood pellets or Bixby Certified Biomass Pellets. This is sufficient capacity for a daily load. Even on the coldest days, the furnace burns only 1.5 bushels of wheat.
The owner of a stove from eastern Iowa says he heats his entire house with 2,100 square feet Bixby stove aided by ceiling fans running in reverse to help distribute warm air. The total cost to heat her home throughout the winter was only $ 250
All outsidetemperature, 8 different levels of heat button is available from 8,000 to 50,000 BTU. This is useful for monitoring fuel consumption when the outdoor temperature is fluctuating during season changes.
Bixby Energy Systems maintains the quality of its maxf 115 with an industry best 7 year warranty on labor and materials, and a 4-year warranty on mechanical / electrical. regional engineers are available to improve the functioning of the stoveaccording to climate and altitude.
Buy a pellet stove to supplement or replace your existing heating system is an important decision. For many homeowners, spend the extra $ 1,800 a Bixby corn stove is simply out of the question.
Many consumers actually prefer the look of a traditional Bixby corn stove, which is subject to additional costs to a point.

Geothermal heating
May 28th, 2010 Posted 7:22 am
Geothermal heating is a process used in Roman times, then. It 's a way to heat buildings / spas that use hot water sources that already exist near the earth's surface. In locations where geothermal resources are available you can distribute hot water to multiple buildings. The process of geothermal heat often seen in countries such as Reykjavik, Iceland, Idaho, USA.
In recent yearsGeothermal heating> is done using a geothermal heat pump. Heating and cooling using the earth's capacity to heat the soil and warm water masses. These masses absorb and retain heat. On sunny days when the heat is not necessary, and that mass stores heat release heat when the weather is covered or at night when the atmosphere cooled.
Geothermal heat pump groundmass as a heat exchanger and fieldwork. Remain at a temperature of 50 ° F (10 ° C) throughout the year, with a heat pump water using the heat in winter and return to earth in summer.
Electricity from renewable sources like solar and wind power can also be used by a geothermal heat pump and water heating and space. This renewable energy can be effective as an electric heater for space heating andwater.
Using this renewable energy in a geothermal heat pump heated buildings without the need for transport and biomass burning on site pumps. Terrestrial heat is not easy and requires considerable knowledge about technology.
Geothermal heat pump is different from a furnace or boiler, as it can transfer heat and not producing. Although it is not economically efficient heat pump to install a geothermal one of your home heating and / orThe business is profitable, because you save on average between 35 and 70% on your heating costs and air conditioning. The reason behind the high installation costs due to age, surface geology, the location of your property and square footage of living space should be considered.
There are three necessary components for a geothermal heat pump:
A course or field – can be horizontal or vertical. A string field is aSeries of looped pipes carrying hot water from the ground heat pump. Loop length and capacity fields are different, the larger structure of greater length and capacity of geothermal heat component. Also connected to the geothermal fluid in the circuit can be in direct contact or indirect contact with heat sources.
or liquid pump Pack – This sends the water through the cane field and water source heat pump
o Water SourceHeat pumps – Heat pumps to replace the furnace or boiler. The heat of the cane field is transferred from the heat pump building.
Geothermal heat pump is environmentally friendly, a renewable energy source, clean and still one of the most efficient heating and cooling available

AFUE Ratings
May 27th, 2010 Posted 7:07 am
AFUE (Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency) ratings are something that every homeowner should learn about and be aware of. AFUE ratings are governmental standard of the measured thermal efficiency of furnaces, boilers, hot water heaters, etc. This is not the only measurement available to determine the energy consumption of any such system, and does not calculate absolutes, but rather calculates the seasonal average of heat loss.
This is not the only means of measuring the efficiency of any given system or product, and differences of opinion exist on which is more useful. This is largely a circumstantial aspect, dependent upon what the consumer is actually trying to calculate. The AFUE is best overall for season-to-season estimation, whereas if one is trying to determine the heat lost over the short term, a measure of thermal efficiency is probably more accurate.
Regardless of the measure used, the goal is to be aware of how much energy/heat/fuel is used to perform a given task-the home-heating equivalent of how many miles on a treadmill are required to burn off a piece of birthday cake. However, whereas in exercise we are looking to burn the maximum number of calories per mile, in heating a home, the goal is to use as little fuel possible while providing a maximum output of heat.
One of the best reasons for a home owner to be aware of AFUE standards is that, just like auto emission standards, they have changed as more efficient machinery, equipment and insulating materials have been developed and become available for widespread use. For example, currently boilers (anything manufactured in 1992 or later) must have an AFUE of 80%. Boilers older than this aren’t held to such a high standard, which means that the older one’s heating system is, the lower its efficiency.
A lower rating means that one’s heater will require more fuel to heat a given space, and lose more heat that should be going into a home to the air. This will raise a homeowner’s heating bills significantly in the winter, or force them to live with a much colder temperature than would be necessary with a more efficient boiler.
While there is a significant initial outlay in replacing an older heating system with a new one, the end results will be substantial savings. A more efficient heater can pay for itself in a disproportionately short time and the savings will be immediately noticed in gas or electric bills. Because of these potential benefits, it is important for every homeowner to be cognizant of the age of their heating system.
The savings will be evident in another fashion as well. Most local utilites will reward the reduced environmental impact of a heating system that has a better AFUE rating and is ENERGY-STARTM rated with rebates. Thus, having a licensed heating contractor install a more efficient heating system will result in more heat for less money, leading to increased comfort in the cold months. Along with the sense of well-being that can be gained from being financially rewarded for acting in an environmentally friendly fashion, upgrading becomes a win-win situation.

Advantages and disadvantages of geothermal plants
May 26th, 2010 Posted 6:45 am
Geothermal energy has been raised in many countries, including USA. The electrical energy required for these plants run out of steam in the land has been withdrawn, sometimes up to several kilometers deep. These plants do not require extra virgin oil, coal or nuclear work, which means that no large quantities of waste products to sell. Besides this, pollution, very littlefrom production of geothermal energy.
Unfortunately, the cost of installation of these plants are very large. But then, when these buildings are built, they are known to hundreds in recent years. But sometimes this energy extracted from the soil in relation to the occurrence of small earthquakes and after a few shots. This can happen because geothermal plants are built only in some parts of the countrylocated on or near tectonic plates, usually ring of fire area.
This particular form of natural energy has shown that it is really clean and energy efficient. The key is always immense heat generated deep within the earth. Therefore, it is considered one of the most reliable sources of energy we have. As an added bonus, it is very safe to use.
A few years ago, it was not uncommon to see the chimneys spewingcushions of black smoke. Although we are now much more aware of the negative effects that pollution has on our environment, we are still trying to brake in order to find better ways, or even stop the dissolution of the stratospheric ozone plants. Geothermal energy can only play a role important in this effort.

A Few Points to Conserve Energy While Installing Underfloor Heating
May 24th, 2010 Posted 6:34 am
An underfloor heating is the smartest option that everyone seems to be opting for, especially in cold winters. And cosiness from such heating system can only be achieved when the apt techniques are properly implemented. It calls for proper designing and planning before planting the pipes and cables down the floor. There are certain methods through which one can save energy with these heating systems if these are laid properly.
Factors that determine the perfect heating delivery and save energy
Floor type- The efficiency of a heater entirely depends on the kind of flooring. Whether you have wooden, tile or concrete floor, you need to arrange the heating system accordingly.
Lifestyle- Are you working and stay out of home most the time? And if you have children or pets, then you need to be careful. Pick those heaters that are 100 percent safe.
Location- The location of your house also determines the perfect function of the heating system. You need to be sure about the rate of power consumption. And you also need to check whether the power supply like of peak or phase 3 is supplied to you.
Climate condition- It is the main determinant that lets you know whether you will be able to save energy or not. The colder the climate is, the more energy that is consumed, and for a longer time.
There are certain other things that can also help you to install and use the system more optimal use. For example, areas and spaces where you live and where most of you. heavy traffic areas or if you spend more time, cables and pipes are closer place. Similarly, areas that do not so often visited, looking much difference between the tubes to keep. On the way throughout the house is full of fun and you will be able to fix the cold floor.
Make sure your heating system or cablinginstalled more closely on the places or areas where you generally walk barefooted. Keeping these simple points in mind, you can use the heater efficiently and can consume the power in a more perfect way.

Reading Corner – Dreaming Green Book Review
May 23rd, 2010 Posted 6:16 am
"Going Green" is one of the latest trends. These days nobody wants to be taken with a plastic bag or throw a water bottle in the trash. But for some people "Go Green" is more than a fad, it's a lifestyle. Dreaming Green was co-authored by husband and wife duo, Paul himself (LEED accredited architect and founder and president of that prestigious Design Group) and Lisa Sharkey (senior vice president and director of creative development at HarperCollins), whichcommitment to green living to renew their Brown's Upper West Side of Manhattan. For Sharkey, the same family would also be a couple, three children also means that almost everything in their house to be sustainable or recycled, super energy efficient and chemical free. "
Dreaming green, unlike other "table" design of the book, Dreaming Green is not only the beautiful photos and design plans. For each of the seventeen houses eco-friendly alsoIn this book, it was five pages of detailed explanations on what type of material in the transformation of this house is and how it was obtained, and understanding of design. Dreaming Green offers a number of homes with eco-farm "in New York on a" green building "in Atlanta, Georgia.
For those who are considering changes in environmental awareness in their homes, there are over ten pages of resources in the back of the book, which givesReaders who have access to many of the materials used in homes listed. The Resources section includes everything from eco-friendly paints for interior kitchen floor geothermal, and more. This section alone makes Dreaming Green is a valuable resource for those seriously planning to renovate their homes.

DIY metal casting surf casting DIY and described Oven
May 22nd, 2010 Posted 6:00 am
Casting DIY are nothing more than cast iron stoves do it yourself. "You can do many different ovens. Process with some of them can be described as follows:
DIY induction furnace: Theoretically, there are only three things necessary for implementing induction heating: High frequency power source, the work coil to generate an alternating magnetic field, and a subject-electrically conducive. But the practical approach is very complicated. For example, the workcoil and a source of high frequency should have a network of correspondence between the two, best power transfer. The use of water cooling systems are very common in induction heaters of high power. This makes the removal of residual heat from the circle next work coil and the coil itself. This process involves the use of controls and electronics. Control Electronics, as its name suggests, control the behavior of the intensity of heat, thereby ensuring consistent results. Heprovides protection against unpleasant working conditions.
Normally, the incorporation of work coil takes place in a resonant tank circuit. There are countless benefits of this. The first advantage is that one of the parameters, ie voltage or current is sinusoidal. It causes less damage to make it even was covered by a zero-current-switching or zero voltage switching, the model selected. Visibility ofsinusoidal waveform at work coil gives the proof of the purity of the signal. There is less interference of radio frequency in the area. It is for the designer to choose one of several schemes of resonance.
DIY Bronze Furnace: The making of oven DIY Bronze involves taking silica bricks of 9 inches X 4 ½ inches x 2 ½ inches in the first place. After you have done a steel plate with dimensions of 18 inches x 24 inches on the groundwhere we intend to build an oven. In other words, sheet steel used as base. The construction of the furnace should start thereafter. And 'advisable that the circumference of the furnace to 14 inches to keep. A small hole with a diameter of 3 inches should be at a height of 5.5 cm above the floor. Let the height of the cylindrical oven 11 ½ inches (including land). This hole is used for entering the burners.
Cutting the door of the burner must beso that serves as a perfect tangent to furnace. It should be made to fire whirl around crucible doing indirectly affected. It is characteristic of Bronze is the emission of toxic fumes. So it is always advisable to take the decisive role in the region to implement adequate ventilation. Use of safety belts clothes are recommended. After closing the oven (including the creation of cutting the hole larger pot of a melting man to get it) mustlet dry. At that time, trawling of water, vermiculite, and kaolin clay on the outside is recommended. The immediate use should be strictly avoided as it may develop cracks. After leaving the drying oven heated slowly to reduce 'kaolin paste' cracking.

energy bills and reduce the heat with this large systems
May 21st, 2010 Posted 5:54 am
Winter is a good time because federal and generous tax credits indicate, discounts, rebates and loan programs are available for those who install solar systems, pumps, small wind systems, geothermal and fuel cells and systems in residential micro turbine. These systems will reduce electricity bills, fuel and the amount of air pollution and greenhouse gases caused by fossil fuels, particularly oil, natural gas, propane and electricity generation.Did you know that half of U.S. electricity by burning dirty coal? Consider this the next time you're thinking of buying and installing a new system.
The different types of geothermal systems are pump systems eligible solar systems, small wind systems and fuel cell systems and residential micro-turbine. Geothermal heat pump, geothermal or water source heat pumps use the constant temperature of the soil exchange medium instead of the outside air temperature, such as conventional air-source heat. The beauty of a geothermal heat pump system is that it is extremely efficient, quiet, durable and require minimal maintenance. This is a good system to consider, especially if you are looking for something that is quiet and durable for your steel building install! If you are looking for an eligible solar energy system, is for any climate and your own water drops> Heating costs by 50% -80%. This includes solar thermal and solar electric (photovoltaic) systems. This type of system uses solar cells that absorb the sun's heat and convert it directly into electricity. The following system is known as small wind systems and to collect kinetic energy from wind and converts it into electricity that is compatible with the electrical system of a house. These systems are a system of home-based renewable energy cheaperand lower electricity bills by 50% -90%. If you are looking for a system for your home is a big consideration.
